CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our Commercial & Institutional - Fire Protection Services Team at our office in Coral Springs, FL or Tampa, FL.

The Fire Sprinkler Designer is able to evaluate, understand, and confirm the required scope of work on the project in relation to the contract documents. The professional in this role identifies any areas of concern and/or opportunities for Value Engineering and improvement. The Fire Sprinkler Designer is able to apply knowledge of codes to the specifics of the Contract Documents to develop the requirements of the work at the least overall cost and risk. The professional in this role also assists in the development of RFIs to provide for errors, omissions, and clarifications as necessary while establishing entitlement for any added scope of work.

The Fire Sprinkler Designer works closely with the Project Manager to develop the fire protection system layouts in accordance with the contract documents and code requirements. This individual performs hydraulic calculations in accordance with the contract documents and code requirements and assist in the preparation of Material & Equipment Submittals. The ideal candidate would be someone who maintains a positive attitude and is passionate about advancing their technical knowledge in our industry. The individual in this role clearly articulates concepts and directions as well as serves as the main point of contact when dealing with the owner, general contractor vender, and internal customers.

REQUIREMENTS
    High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' fire sprinkler design experience required
  • Water based Sprinkler NICET certification a plus
  • Valid drivers' license required
  • Proficient with discipline-based software such as AutoSPRINK, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and SprinkCAD
  • Knowledge of other software such as NAVIS Manage, REVIT, REVIT RVT, and other AutoDesk software a plus
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word and Excel) to be capable of working with and modifying spreadsheets for the monitoring of project Change Orders, RFIs, write project correspondence, assist in the pricing of changes, and prepare projections
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist senior staff
  • Ability to stand, climb, walk, sit, talk, hear, and see. - Routine operations may require standing for hours at a time, climbing ladders and stairs. Projects may require site surveys and or meetings
