First American is looking to add a Title Examiner to our growing team in Florida. This position plays a key role in coordinating the resolution and completion of the title process. Primary responsibilities include searching the public records and examining titles to determine the legal condition of property title, primarily for residential properties, and creating solutions for curing title issues. Also, obtaining or summarizing recorded and legal documents, which affect the condition of title to the property. In some cases, the Title Examiner role requires gathering information and creating or revising a commitment of title before passing along to a Title Officer.

The right candidate must be able to work remotely and independently, utilizing experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title. In addition, good communication skills are a must so that you can explain and coach our front line teams on how to resolve or break down for clients and customers.

What You'll Do:

    • Perform title examinations and examine the chain of title for a wide range of title matters/issues (primarily residential)
    • Analyze records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records
    • Resolves most issues, such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate or contradictory information contained in the title documentation
    • Review title commitments for accuracy and make necessary revisions
    • May provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
    • Other duties as assigned


WHAT YOU'LL BRING

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Typically requires 4+ years directly related experience
    • Detail / quality orientation
