Responsibilities

Summary
Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant I, GL is responsible for the overall accuracy and timeliness of maintaining General Ledger (GL) accounts including simple reconciliation, supporting month-end and year-end close process, posting of Infinium journal entries for the corporate, payroll, tax and treasury departments as well as field operations accurately while meeting stringent deadlines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Staff Accountant I, GL adheres to company policies and procedures established for accounting.
  • Posts properly signed and approved journal entries for various corporate departments and the field accurately and timely.
  • The Staff Accountant I, GL works with other staff accountants to comply with the posted journal entry review process and the maintenance and filing of journal entry support and posting reports.
  • Works with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & other departments on clearing suspense accounts.
  • The Staff Accountant I, GL assists in retrieving journal entry support as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly P&L internal reporting packages.
  • The Staff Accountant I, GL works closely with and supports the department's GL accounting analysts with various assigned tasks.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close.
  • Compiles, summarizes, and provides necessary reports of activities as needed.
  • Ensures all work complies with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and controls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures applied in a general ledger accounting function.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply to business transactions.
  • Relies on experience and expertise to plan work accordingly and to accomplish the position's goals and objectives.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve the typical questions and issues that arise as a result of completing daily work activities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with Business Manager to resolve questions and problems.
  • Ability to produce reports in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software used by the department and Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills and preferably Smart View/Essbase skills.
