Position Summary

The Senior Buyer Planner plays a pivotal role in L&W's procurement and planning operations. The Senior Buyer Planner is responsible for managing supplier relationships, overseeing inventory levels, and ensuring timely availability of quality materials to support production and meet customer demands. This role requires a keen understanding of supply chain dynamics, strong analytics skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to optimize purchasing strategies and drive cost savings.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing regular reviews of material requirements planning (MRP) and placing orders accordingly.
  • Timely and accurate placement of purchase orders.
  • Implementing an optimized approach for monitoring purchase orders through utilization of system tools and generated reports.
  • Ensuring fulfilment of all orders and promptly addressing any discrepancies or shortages, with a proactive approach to escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Engaging in basic negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms regarding price, quantity, and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborating with supply chain and planning teams to optimize materials purchases and inventory levels.
  • Cultivating and nurturing critical supplier relationships through regular communication and follow-up.
  • Coordinating occasional transportation of goods and monitoring orders for on-time delivery
  • Liaising with internal departments such as Accounts Payable, Order Entry, Sourcing, and Planning.
  • Conceptualizing and implementing innovative ideas and strategies to enhance operational efficiency, drive business value, optimize performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Achieving exceptional results aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required, which may include but are not limited to supporting strategic business partners, refining processes and documentation, managing master data, and contributing to various other projects as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years Purchasing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with various ERP systems including Oracle.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in utilizing MRP for daily purchase order placement.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including look up functions and Pivot Tables.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word.
  • Strong analytical abilities to effectively interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Essential skills in task prioritization, time management, and organization to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proven negotiation skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Daily coordination with inventory, management, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth operations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
