Summary/Objective

This is an entry level position. Produces solid models and manufacturing drawings for large assemblies based on customer supplied 2D drawings and an existing set of internal product design guidelines. Works with independence, and work is reviewed for content and accuracy upon completion. Performs specific tasks with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

  1. Review incoming documentation to ensure minimum required design information is present
  2. Review customer prints against internal design guidelines to identify any areas of deficiency
  3. Create or modify assembly models as needed based on customer prints and/or other engineering documentation. Models and manufacturing drawings must be maintained according to corporate standards.
  4. Update PDM system and create engineering BOMs for import into the business system
  5. Assists manufacturing personnel with information regarding assembly changes and print questions
  6. Complete design/research projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work could also become necessary.

Travel

Minimal local travel.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Some technical education specific to CAD, associate degree or equivalent, or 1-3 years of modeling/drafting experience with Solidworks or other 3D modeling software.
  3. Must be able to rapidly transition between projects as priorities change
  4. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Manufacturing/industry experience.
  2. Welding and metal fabrication knowledge.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
