JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, this position identifies, plans, and coordinates campus and online student engagement opportunities through events, wellness, and student life activities and provides general support for the Office of Student Life. Duties include: coordinating, and implementing college wide student engagement opportunities that promote student success, student wellness, enriches the learning experience, fosters inclusion, and student leadership opportunities in collaboration with the team members at the Office of Student Life. This role supports student success through Student Life programming that includes the first-year experience, student leadership, student wellness, and other student life engagement initiatives.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors college wide student engagement activities including but not limited to social, educational, civic, wellness, leadership development programming. Identifies and recommends campus and online engagement strategies to support student sense of belonging, wellness, and retention. Assists with the development of promotional materials, flyers, and posters for student engagement opportunities; maintains the Student Life webpages. Collaborates with other College departments to expand current on-campus events to include online options. 45%
  • Carries out the daily operation of the front office in Student Life; responds to and handles inquiries via telephone and email; completes request forms; and assists/refers students with needs regarding student issues and/or concerns. Analyzes and evaluates data for the improvement of virtual student engagement. Provides technical support as needed. Oversees student workers to include training, scheduling daily work hours, and assuring completion of tasks. 15%
  • Assists with parking decals, student ID cards, pool keys. 10%
  • Assists with supply inventory for the Office of Student Life; Supports the First Year Experience Program, Oversees the Student Life incentive program, serves as the Advisor for the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Virtual Connections Club, which includes completing budget requests and re-registration for the National Society of Leadership and Success and Virtual Connections Club. Completes special projects as assigned; supports activities of the Student Life Division as needed. 20%
  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 10%

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree; one (1) year of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Knowledge of office practices and equipment including telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, computer programs, technology, and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of graphic design or marketing desired.
  • Knowledge of student engagement methods and online methodology.
  • Skill in organizing, time management, and prioritizing.
  • Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
  • Ability to be accurate, pay attention to details, be people oriented, multi-task, work independently as well as with others, and be self-motivated.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.

To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures.
